Work on A-7 Tunnels | Costa Tropical Gazette News

Work will soon take place on some of the A-7 tunnels between Carchuna and Cerro Gordo, along the western end of the Costa Tropical.

The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (Mitma) has requested a budget of 16m euros to carry out modernising work on the Fuentecilla, Carchuna, Ítrabo, Cantalobos and art dealer tunnels, all within the Province of Granada.

Although these tunnels are up to standard as far as Spanish motorways go, with the Royal Decree setting out the minimum, tunnel requirements for the Trans-European Transport Network, they will need further installations.

The nationwide Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan has a budget of 357m euros for adapting Spanish expressway tunnels to the European standards in regard to fauna protection and “vulnerable users.”

There will be improvement to emergency exits, signposting, ventilation, lighting and electrical installations in general, as well as fire-prevention, drainage, communication & traffic management.
