Square Work in Salobreña | Costa Tropical Gazette News

The construction work on Calle Ramblilla in La Caleta is part of a project to renovate the small square at the entrance to the village.

This project started in 2019 with work that was carried out between the said square, down to the Laundry Square.

However, owing to the outbreak of Covid 19 and the movement restrictions that followed, it meant that the second phase didn’t begin until 2022, concentrating on the road leading up to the House of Culture.

Finally, two weeks ago the third and last stage began on the Small square itself, where the bus stop is. This work should take one month.

The First Councillor for La Caleta, Ignacio Trujillo, explained that the work includes placing new urban furniture and even reinstalling the exercise machines (biohealthy park) taken down whilst the construction work takes place.

Whilst this is going on, other workers are employed stabilising the earth bank in front of the old sugar factory. A retaining wall is being erected. After the last rains the bank started crumbling so the Town Hall urged the factory owners to carry out stabilisation work as this land belongs to them.
