The association SaloSolidaridad, in collaboration with Salobreña Town Hall, is mounting an aid campaign for victims in Turkey and Syria.
Their object is to collect foodstuffs, clothes and medical material locally and send them to the victims of the recent earthquake.
The association calls on the residents of Salobreña, Lobres and La Caleta-La Guardia, to come to the entrance hall of the Town Hall this morning, bringing any items that they feel they can donate for the cause.
Especially necessary is warm clothing, tents, medicines, personal-hygiene items (soap etc) non-perishable foodstuffs and baby food. When they refer to medical supplies, they mean bandages and surgical alcohol, as these products are becoming more and more scarce on the ground.
The Salobreña association is in contact with several organisations in the provinces, amongst them the Solidarity Civil Guards to channel what is collected through established, emergency supply lines.
If for any reason those interested in donating items can’t make the meeting at the Town Hall later this morning, then they can go directly to the municipal storehouse, which is situated behind the town-hall building, any morning.
People can also donate their time as they need spare hands to help sort and classify donations made.
