A reader comments on the change of usage rules at the Almuñécar municipal swimming pool…
Martin,
I recently returned to swimming in Almunecar and was greeted by a very odd change.
It seems that your pool membership is severely restricted to only one hour on any given day. Not only that, your one hour is restricted to the beginning of an hour to the end of an hour, for example, 09:00 to 10:00.
I departed the shower area at 11:46 and was immediately told I could only swim until 12:00 or I could wait until 12:00 and swim til 13:00. How odd? I wait dutifully until high noon!
It seems the one lifeguard for maybe 30 or more swimmers doesn’t feel he can keep account of the hours. Or is it that we swimmers can’t be trusted to overstay our welcome by a few minutes. It also seems leisurely luxuriating and soaking up the pleasure of a dip is not allowed… you can only swim laps.
I was wondering if I only swim for 30 minutes can I come back later and swim another 30 minutes?
My friends abroad in the UK, US and China laughed at the absurdity. What next? TIS (This Is Spain!)
