Paseo Road Closed | Costa Tropical Gazette News

The Town Hall announced, with very little notice, that the Paseo Prieto Moreno along Almuñécar’s seafront is closed to traffic from yesterday to Thursday.

This is the one-way road between the Altill promenadeo and La Caletilla (Peñon del Santo). The reason being is that they are now going to carry out roadworks on the loft walk, next to the Monument to the Phoenician; in other words, the sculpture that is half a boat with half a man on it.

The Commonwealth will be changing all the manhole covers along the sewer pipeline and then they will resurface the whole of the street from the loft to Bikini Street.

This work is part of the Preposition Plan and Improvement of Public Roads of Almuñécar and La Herradura 2022 with a budget of a quarter of a million euros, according to the Municipal Maintenance Department.

Other streets that are being subjected to roadworks are Iron Burner Street and Aquarium Streetas well Empedraillo Street between, Urb.La Carrera and Gardens of the Sea Streetand along Sigh Highway between the roundabout on The race and the main-road, flyover bridge.

Editorial comment: this is becoming absolutely ridiculous! Just because the municipal elections are in May, the Town Hall is cramming in all the public works it hasn’t carried out in the last four years, so that they will conclude in time for the Mayor being able to say, “look at all we’ve done for the town!” This madness, however, is enacted in just about every municipality in Spain at the moment.
