Following the recent resignation of the Chief of Police in Almuñécar, the post has been filled by Marina Sánchez, the first ever female Chief of Police in Almuñécar.

The previous Chief, Juan José Medina, resigned for personal reasons, he stated, but there had been a sort of rebellion amongst the ranks, so the new Chief of Police will have her work cut out for her.

The Mayor, Juan José Ruiz Joya, and the civilian head of the municipal police, Francsico Robles, held a swearing in ceremony for C.o.P. Sánchez in the Town Hall.

She joined the Almuñécar police in 2017 but after passing out in 2013 from the police-traning academy in Sevilla, she had served in the Puerto de Santa Maria. At present, she is finishing the final year of Criminology at the UNIT.
