The Mayor of Motril’s team has reached an agreement with the strike committee that has led to the rubbish-collection strike being called off.
Amongst the points that the strike committee (made up of representative from the workers unions, UGT, CCOO, CSIF and CGT) wrung from the Town Hall was that any municipal workers should, at least, be on a minimum salary of 26,000 for a year This will be achieved over the next three years.
Concerning cleaning workers, who joined the municipal work force in 2018, there was a discrepancy over their seniority supplement – this will be ironed out by the 8th of July at the latest. Also the reduced, summer-working hours will come into force on the 1st of June.
However, the Policía Local and Bomberos will continue with their protests and maintain their threat to refuse to do overtime, which could put the mockers on the Semana Santa parades.
