The plot for Salobreña’s projected medical centre has been approved by the Junta, so things have taken a step closer to it actually being built!

The construction of the said building has a budget of 92.5-million euros and if all things run smoothly, work should begin next year and take about 20 months to complete.

The Mayor, María Eugenia Rufino, explained that it would have 18 doctors’ surgeries, two of which would be for paediatric use and one for multipurpose use. There will also be a room for breast feeding.

The centre will have a rooms for minor surgery, physiotherapy, electrotherapy, radiology and rehabilitation. Obviously, it will also have A&E facilities including four examination rooms, a treatment room and an observation room.

The Mayor said that apart from all this, she has requested more medical staff than presently available in the existing medical centre, for obvious reasons.
