It looks like Almuñécar Town Hall has decided to take a leaf out of Paula & Dave Jones book for ferrying around guests from their Otívar hotel in tuk-tuks!
Yes, instead of jumping onto a carriage on the tourism express, and sitting like a mobile display of idiots, visitors to Almuñécar can use a tuk-tuk, which despite their appearance are nifty machines!
Besides, better a fleet of tuk-tuks, puttering around town than a long, multi-carriage, traffic choker, trundling, sulkily, around the busy streets of Almuñécar at the height of summer.
Sexy Tuk-Tuk, which admittedly sounds like something out of the The Kama Sutrawill whisk tourists around Almuñécar and La Herradura to the top tourist attractions; the castle, the bird park and other sites.
The man behind the tuk-tuk revolution is Bernardo García Vallejo, who is the owner the Berbikes shop in Almuñécar and he’s onto a winner, no doubt, because you can’t get the tourist train up San Miguel neighborhood but you can get a tuk-tuk up there; the envy of every Sherpa! Forget the municipal bus, forget the tourist train; catch a tuk-tuk and cruise the town in splendid isolation.
The service comes into being at the beginning of next month and provides two routes:
1) San Miguel neighborhoodor in other words the old town up near the castle, taking in the said castle and the Cave of seven palaces.
2) This will leisurely take in the Paseo de San CristobalCotobro, up to the Punta de La Mona, Marina del Este and The Castle of La Herradura.
Rumours of a third route, hurtling down the steps that lead up to the top of the Rock of the Saintblindfolded (the driver, not you) guided only by the screams of the passengers… are completely unfounded.
