Kitesurfer Killed in Almería | Costa Tropical Gazette News

The body of a 46-year-old woman who had been kitesurfing was pulled out the water off Garrucha (Almería).

Two passersby called in to the 112 emergency, call centre at 16.25h to say  that a kitesurfer was drifting in the sea about 250 metres out from between Garrucha and Mojácar.

The coordinator alerted Maritime Rescue (sea rescue), the Guardia Civil, the ambulance service and Civil protection de Garrucha so that they could assist.

However, it was a fishing boat which got their first and retrieved the woman from the water, taking the victim to Puerto de Garrucha, according to Maritime Rescue.

Despite intense CPR carried out by the ambulance paramedic and hospital staff, it was in vain and she was declared deceased.
