Customers of several internet providers found themselves without Internet this morning and early afternoon.
The problem was a major, fibre-optic ‘highway’ in Madrid affecting, principally, the provinces of Granada and Almería, although other Andalusian provinces were affected to a lesser extent: Sevilla, Jaén, as well as autonomous regions such as Murcia, Alicante and Valencia.
The outage began around 09.00h and has affected the main internet providers in the country, according to Downdetectorwhich specialises in detecting service outages amongst internet providers.
The companies that were affected are Movistar, Orange, Jazztel, Simyo, Vodafone and Yoigo. Orange has issued a statement on their Twitter account to say that they are working on the problem. They pointed out that the outage had nothing to do with them.
