You would have thought that with all these warships in the vicinity of Motril, it wouldn’t be a good time to make an illegal crossing from Africa…

Well, four men of North African origin (Magreb) were picked up by the SIVE (coastal surveillance system) 36 miles south of Cabo Sacratif (Torrenueva Costa lighthouse).

Maritime Rescue based in Almería sent out the rescue launch, Salvamar Gienahwith the help of a passing ship that had radioed in the  craft’s location around 21:40h.

They were found around 23:40h Saturday night in an inflatable dinghy and brought into Motril Port yesterday around two in the morning.
