San Juan revellers were surprised to see a Guardia Civil helicopter flying along the beaches and many thought that it was a routine patrol; it wasn’t.
A little later in La Herradura, it hovered over the beach next to a group of jet-ski users; somewhere where they were not supposed to be. They have to keep a minimum of 200 metres from the beach but these ones were just metres off it.
Over a loud hailer they were told in no uncertain terms that they were infringing the law, so, according to several eyewitness, they scarpered to the applause of beach users.
Although other Costa Tropical, seaside towns have had their fair share of jet-ski problems, La Herradura is where it has caused most problems, so the appearance of the Guardia Civil was a welcome relief.
