A 6-year-old child perished at home in a fire in the city of Granada in the early hours of yesterday. The child’s mother was badly burned.
The fire broke out in a 3rd-floor flat on Circunvalación Street Holm oak around 03.15h yesterday. Over a dozen neighbours phoned the situation in to the emergency-services, coordination centre 112
Forty neighbours were evacuated, who were later allowed to return home, whilst the fire service dealt with the fire.
The 47-year-old, mother’s condition is described as serious with burns all over her body.
Also requiring medical assistance was an elderly resident who was taken to a medical centre, and an officer belonging to the Policía Local, who was treated on the spot for burns to his hand.
Investigation into the fire is leaning towards there having been a problem with the installations of the gas cooker.
