The Citizens’ Advice Bureau (OMIC) in Almuñécar handled 533 reported complaints during 2022, which was slightly up on the previous year.

The report was made public by the Councillor for Commerce, Rafael Caballero, who explained that 118 of them resulted in action taken against the entity involved.

“The sectors that have generated the most complaints are telecommunications (telephone companies) with 35 reclamations made; utility companies (electricity companies, etc) accounted for 25 complaints, and online shopping, 18 complaints,” explained Sr. Caballero. The number of banking complaints has dropped compared to the previous year, although the number of complaints acted upon was not given.

The councillor pointed out that it is an obligation for public administration to look after the rights of consumers, which are recognised in the Spanish Constitution under article 51, adding that the OMIC office in Almuñécar is situated in the Youth Housewhich you can find at Calle Theater. Colosseum Building, with the opening hours of 10.00h to 13.30h and 16.00h to 18.30h on any weekday.
