A van crashed into a lamppost after being chased by the Guardia Civil as he failed to pull over at a check point on the A-92.

The 50-year-old driver wasn’t keen to stop for the police to have a look around his vehicle because he had 50 kilos of hashish onboard.

This led to a chase over ten kilometres before he hit the street light on a street in Guadix

The incident occurred around 12.30h yesterday near the entrance to the freeway from the city of Guadix, heading north-east (Baza). Consequently, the accident caused long tailbacks.
